What You Will Need
Before we start repairing the countertop, you will need to gather some tools and materials. Here are the things you will need:
- Masking tape
- Utility knife
- Clear epoxy resin
- Small paintbrush
- Sanding block
- Fine-grit sandpaper
- Soft cloth
Step 1: Clean the Countertop
Clean the cracked area of the countertop with soap and water. Rinse it thoroughly and dry it with a soft cloth. Make sure there is no debris or dirt left in the crack.
Step 2: Masking Tape
Use masking tape to cover the area around the crack. This will protect the surrounding area from getting damaged by the epoxy resin.
Step 3: Cut the Crack
Use a utility knife to cut the crack slightly wider. This will make it easier for the epoxy resin to fill the crack.
Step 4: Mix the Epoxy Resin
Follow the instructions on the epoxy resin package to mix the resin and hardener. Mix it in a small bowl until it is well combined.
Step 5: Apply the Epoxy Resin
Use a small paintbrush to apply the epoxy resin to the crack. Make sure you fill the crack completely with the resin. Smooth out the surface with the paintbrush.
Step 6: Let the Epoxy Resin Dry

Once the epoxy resin is dry, use a sanding block and fine-grit sandpaper to sand the surface. Sand it until it is smooth and level with the rest of the countertop.
Step 8: Clean the Countertop Again
Clean the countertop with soap and water again. Rinse it thoroughly and dry it with a soft cloth.
Step 9: Apply Wax
Apply a thin layer of wax to the entire countertop. This will protect the surface and make it shine.
Step 10: Remove the Masking Tape
Remove the masking tape from around the crack. Your countertop is now repaired and ready to use!
